The Hillcrest Association welcomes Ben Nicholls, formerly from the Pacific Beach BID, as the new Executive Director of the HBIA. Ben begins January 5th, as our 20-year veteran Director Warren Simon prepares for retirement. Congratualtions to both of you!

 The International Council of Shopping Centers will present the 2009 San Diego Retail Market Forecast Jan. 14 where local retail experts will discuss what to expect in the new year and provide insights on how to survive and thrive in the unpredictable market. The program will be offered at the Marriott Del Mar, 11966 El Camino Real in San Diego. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. followed by a breakfast and the program.

Starting January 1 2009, new recycling guidelines will be going into effect in the City of San Diego, including mandatory recycling by any commercial building over 10,000sf. This new ordinance will affect mainly big-box stores, but we wanted to remind our Hillcrest businesses that as of January 2010, ALL commercial/business locations will be required to recycle items specified by the city.
